Botox Injections
Botox has been shown to safely and effectively reduce lines of expressions commonly known as "frown" lines or "crow’s feet". These lines occur when we use our muscles to express emotions. Repetitive use over decades can cause deeply etched lines that can make us look cross or tired even when we are not. Botox injections are most commonly injected in the forehead, between the eyes or in crows feet to relax these muscles. It requires only a couple of minutes with a minimum of discomfort. Most of these lines will go away for between 3-6 months. The injection can be repeated, if desired. It currently is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the United States.
Recovery Time: None—minor bruising or swelling

Brow Rejuvenation

One of the most overlooked aspects of facial appearance are the eyebrows. Yet, the position and shape of the brow can powerfully communicate various moods. As we age, the brows tend to drop, making us appear "sadder" or "sterner" than what we may actually want to communicate. There are a number of methods to raise the brow. At the Stanford Advanced Skin Care Center, we use Botox for a temporary effect. For a more permanent effect we use either a transblepharoplasty or direct approach. All three procedures are minimally invasive.

Eyelid Rejuvenation

Because of genetics and aging, you may have bags under your eyes, or extra skin on your upper eyelids, either of which will make you appear tired and lethargic, even if you feel energetic. A procedure called a "blepharoplasty" or commonly known as an "eyelid tuck" can significantly reduce these bags or extra skin and provide a refreshed look to your eyes. At the Stanford Advanced Skin Care Center, we perform blepharoplasties under local anesthesia with sedation. For upper eyelids, we use cosmetic dissolvable stitches which leave a barely perceptible scar. For the lower eyelid bags, there is no visible scar. Laser resurfacing is performed simultaneously for the lower eyelids.
Recovery Time: Long weekend to one week.
